National Identification Strategy
A National Identification (ID) System is fundamental to the transformation of our country into a digital nation. The current multiple identification systems make it difficult for citizens to access services, since it creates duplication and unnecessary cost. Therefore, the development of a National ID system is important to improve access to basic rights, services and goods, such as applying for a passport, collecting social benefits, accessing health services, among many others. As a result, the project aims to design an action plan for the implementation of the National ID System in collaboration with key stakeholders.
The establishment of a National Identification System will achieve:
- Improved access to efficient services.
- Empower individuals and enhance their access to rights and services;
- Strengthen the transparency, efficiency, and effectiveness of government;
- Support private sector development;
- Grow the digital economy; and
- Generate reliable and continuous statistics to measure progress and inform policy.
