National Data Strategy
Belize has initiated the process of developing a National Data Strategy. The objective of the Strategy is to establish a holistic approach to data governance, use, and management within the Government. It will be an important tool in facilitating the use of data to support national development, improvement of public services, and coordination and collaboration among institutions. It will also be critical in ensuring the privacy and rights of Belizeans.
Through the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), a National Data Strategy Roadmap has been developed, which will guide the overall development of the Strategy. At this stage, the Unit along with the IDB team has begun to utilize the Roadmap to build the Strategy. This process will include the involvement of stakeholders to ensure that the existing needs and challenges are being addressed.
