Advancing Belize’s Digital Future through Responsible AI
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of E-Governance participated in a high-level policy discussion on Artificial Intelligence, focused on shaping practical, ethical, and people-centered AI frameworks for the region.
For Belize, the conversation on Augmented AI is especially important. Rather than replacing human decision-making, augmented AI strengthens public officers’ capabilities—supporting smarter policy design, improving service delivery, enhancing data-driven governance, and increasing efficiency across key sectors such as health, education, public administration, and national security. In a small developing state, this approach ensures technology works with our people, preserves accountability, and aligns with our national development priorities.
These regional engagements are critical as Belize continues to build interoperable digital systems, strengthen institutional capacity, and adopt AI responsibly within government operations.
We extend sincere appreciation to the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Government of Costa Rica for convening this important dialogue and for their continued leadership and partnership in advancing digital transformation and AI readiness across the region.
